Getting StartedHello!
I saw a special on TV that said if you are good with wood and like to garden, you might enjoy bee keeping. I garden and do woodworking. I have always thought it would be cool to keep bees. So, I am going to do it. I am just getting started and do not plan on getting bees until next spring. I was advised by a beekeeper I know to learn as much as I could first and then get the bees the next spring. So, I have been reading and researching the subject. I jointed Eastern Missouri Beekeepers Association, The Three Rivers Beekeeper, and of coarse MSBA. I am slowly buying equipment and hope to build some of my own hives. I have met two bee keepers in my area that have let me check out their hives. I have to admit, it is a rush getting in there and handling the frames and working with the bees. I can not wait to get my own bees. I have about 7 acres with 35 fruit tree. I plant a big garden each year. I also live close to Cuivre River State Park. So, I hope to be able to keep a couple of hive busy. I am looking forward to getting into beekeeping and would like to thank everyone for the help.
