Can anyone give me an idea of when the nectar flows occur in my area. I live in southwest missouri, north of springfield about 40 miles. I am looking at setting up a hive next spring and I was wondering if I would be able to get the bees established in time to get some excess honey.
Thanks

Worley, I'm new to beekeeping this year so take this as one newbee to another. From talking to people in my club we're in it right now. I haven't noticed it in my bee's, but they've only been in for about 3 weeks now and are still eating mostly sugar syrup. I found a nector chart on a web site that's list by plant when the nector flow starts, the only bad thing is it's for the Ohio Valley. Here's the link: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_bhts1c9lywY/SMyeKRDJhaI/AAAAAAAAAYk/6r6H7r8IxSU/s1600-h/2009+NKY+Bloom+Gantt+Chart. I figure some of this information will apply sense we have some of the same plants. Hope this helps.
